Two Serbian students were attacked overnight in Novi Sad, their colleagues announced on Instagram.
The attack took place at 3:24 a.m. local time, the Emergency Service in the northern Serbian city also reported a short while ago.
According to information from the Serbian news agency TANJUG, unknown men attacked the two students with bats, one of whom has a broken jaw and has been admitted to the surgical ward in Novi Sad.
The police are working to establish all the circumstances surrounding the incident, TANJUG also wrote.
A protest has been scheduled in Novi Sad due to what happened. Its start time has not yet been announced.
Students across Serbia are protesting against the government and President Aleksandar Vucic, who they believe are responsible for the collapse of a concrete canopy at a railway station in the northern Serbian city, which killed 15 people and seriously injured two on November 1 last year.
