The sports division Gazoo Racing (GR) is about to present a machine that will make the hairs of the competition stand on end. The long-awaited GR supercar is no longer just a rumor, but a reality with specific dates for the premiere, promising to embody the brand's track DNA in a street masterpiece.
Toyota Chairman Akio Toyoda personally increased the intrigue by announcing the first public appearance of the model. The long-awaited debut, albeit only as an initial presentation, is scheduled for the Tokyo Auto Salon between January 10 and 12, 2026. Before that, however, the full premiere is planned for December 4, 2025 – a date that fans have already marked in red on their calendars.
This is not just another new coupe, but the culmination of years of GR experience in the World Endurance Championship. To create the hypercar, Toyota draws inspiration directly from its track program and the impressive GR GT3 concept.
Although Toyota is still keeping official technical specifications a closely guarded secret, the released audio recording speaks for itself. Chairman Toyoda has authorized the release of an audio clip that leaves no doubt: the new GR flagship will be powered by a hybridized V8 powertrain.
The drivetrain is expected to be directly inspired by the brand's track machines, combining the raw power and rich sound of a multi-cylinder engine with the instant torque and efficiency of modern electrical systems. It's an ambition to create not just a fast car, but a technological manifesto that can compete with the most elite names in the world of supercars.
The debut of the GR supercar will be just one of a wider wave of premieres that Toyota and Lexus are preparing. Along with the V8 hybrid beast, the company has also shown other bold projects, such as the electric Corolla concept, a luxury coupe version of the Century and even an extravagant six-wheeled Lexus van.
These projects show that Toyota is betting on diversification and bold ideas in its new product cycle. The GR flagship is the top of this pyramid - a dream car for many, which aims to prove that despite mass electrification, the passion for power and engineering excellence remains unchanged at the heart of the Japanese concern.
