Many drivers on a long journey rely on a quick dose of caffeine from the gas station to keep their eyes open, but the reality can be dangerous. Medical experts are warning of an unexpected phenomenon - instant coffee often causes the opposite effect, leading to sudden drowsiness and loss of concentration at the most critical moment.
The problem lies in the production technology. Many instant versions use the inner part of the coffee bean, which is poor in invigorating caffeine, but is rich in theobromine. This substance has the specific property of calming the nervous system and causing a desire to sleep. So, instead of the expected surge of energy, the driver gets a short “bonus” cheerfulness, followed by a sharp decline that can lead to dangerous micro-dreams on the road.
In addition to the chemical composition, genetics also plays a huge role. Each person's body processes caffeine at a different speed. While some feel fresh for hours, for others the blocking of fatigue signals is purely cosmetic. When the drink's effect wears off, the accumulated exhaustion hits the nervous system with double force. The situation worsens if coffee is drunk on an empty stomach or combined with sweet temptations - this causes a "roller coaster" for blood sugar levels, which literally sucks out efficiency and focus.
But the dangers of the spring season do not only lurk inside the cabin. Automotive experts remind you that while you are fighting sleep, your car is fighting pollen. This fine yellow dust, mixed with road moisture, forms a sticky and aggressive film that literally “eats” the car's paintwork if it is not washed off in time.
Even more serious is the problem with ventilation. Pollen quickly clogs the cabin filters, which worsens the air quality and can cause allergic reactions in the driver, further distracting him from the road. Although the engine is more resistant, clogged air filters inevitably lead to higher fuel consumption and sluggish response to the accelerator pedal. The advice to drivers is clear: rely on quality whole-bean espresso, don't forget breakfast and clean your car's filters regularly to reach your destination refreshed and with a technically sound machine.
