Toyota is preparing an off-road minivan Land Cruiser

The model, designed for lovers of travel and active recreation, will probably be based on the serial Noah/Voxy vans offered on the Japanese market

Toyota is a recognized leader in the production of SUVs and crossovers, but the company continues to expand its range. By the end of the year, the debut of a new frame SUV, probably called the Land Cruiser FJ, is expected, as well as the replenishment of the line with the Hilux Champ pickup truck. In addition, an adventure van may appear between the fall of 2025 and the spring of 2026. This is also hinted at by the X-Van Gear concept from 2023, reports the Japanese publication Motor Fan.

Design and base of the Land Cruiser - a van

The impressive and brutal design of the Toyota X-Van Gear concept has already been patented, which means that the appearance of the production model will probably be very similar to that of the experimental prototype. It is expected that the Noah and Voxy vans, which differ in design, will be used as a basis.

In terms of dimensions, the Noah/Voxy are quite close to the X-Van Gear Concept: 4,695 mm long, 1,820 mm wide and 1,855 mm high. These models are suitable for the role of a donor due to their optimal dimensions and a diverse range of engines, which includes a 2.0-liter gasoline engine and a hybrid powertrain with a 1.8-liter internal combustion engine. An all-wheel drive option is also available.

Off-road characteristics and competition

The differences in the off-road version will probably include increased ground clearance and an expanded list of equipment for active recreation. The main competitor of the new model will be the conceptually similar Mitsubishi Delica D:5, which has been produced since 2007.
