The BMW that will change the game is coming

iX3 to debut at the Munich Motor Show and aims to usher in a new electric era

The IAA Mobility 2025 Motor Show will be held in Munich from September 9 to 14, and will host the long-awaited premiere of the BMW iX3. Our team will be on site, from where we will make you empathize with everything interesting about the Bavarian brand, but now we will "warm you up" a little about the upcoming innovation.

This model will be the first in a series of cars built on the revolutionary Neue Klasse platform. This architecture was designed from the ground up for electric vehicles, which distinguishes it from previous adaptations of models with internal combustion engines. The internal code of the new BMW iX3 is NA5, emphasizing its status as a completely new development, independent of the previous platforms.

Technological innovations and improvements

The new BMW iX3 will feature sixth-generation batteries, which promise increased energy density. This will lead to significantly improved range, reduced battery weight and shortened charging times. The new architecture will also provide a different interior layout, improved chassis layout, and more effective weight distribution between the axles. BMW promises a completely new level of interaction between the driver and the car thanks to the updated digital interface, which will be part of the new generation of the iDrive infotainment system. The iX3 is expected to debut with an innovative user experience that BMW plans to introduce in future models.

Ambitious electrification plan

The iX3 crossover will be the first model launched as part of BMW’s ambitious electrification plan. Over the next two years, the company plans to introduce up to 40 new models, including the next-generation i3 and i5. All of them will be created using the latest technologies developed within the framework of the Neue Klasse concept.

Strategic move for BMW

For BMW, this move is strategic. The previous BMW iX3 was a compromise option – simply an electric version of a crossover based on the CLAR platform, which was originally created for traditional models with internal combustion engines. The new iX3 no longer has such a compromise, as it was designed as an electric car from the start. This allows not only to achieve better technical characteristics, but also to change the very philosophy of the model, orienting it towards an electric future without any design limitations of the past.

Other highlights of the exhibition

BMW will also show other new products at the Munich Motor Show, including updated versions of the iX and XM crossovers, a special version of the new BMW M2 CS for fans of high dynamics, the new M5 hybrid, as well as electrified models from the MINI brand. In addition, the exhibition will present several concept cars that will give an idea of the direction of development of BMW design and technology in the coming years.
