Geological information about Ukrainian subsoil marked “secret“ will become open to attract foreign investors and cooperation with the US within the framework of the subsoil agreement, announced the Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine Svetlana Grinchuk.
„We are removing restrictive labels - we are opening access to information on strategic and critical mineral resources“, her words are quoted in the ministry's Telegram channel.
As noted by the Ukrainian publication „Liga“, the minister announced that all bureaucratic procedures for free work with information on the Ukrainian subsoil are currently being carried out, since most of the data has so far been stored only on paper.
According to Grinchuk, the ministry has already digitized 6,000 books with geological information and plans to digitize another 60,000 books. The project is being implemented with the support of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, and its expansion is planned jointly with the American DFC.
The Ukrainian government, together with the Ministry of Economy, has also developed a list of strategic and critical minerals with an emphasis on the needs of the EU and the US. The rights to develop these resources will be transferred through auctions or production sharing agreements. Grinchuk stressed that the government will approve these documents in the coming weeks.
