The head of the American technology corporation Intel, Lip-Bu Tan, will visit the White House and discuss the company's cooperation with the government with US President Donald Trump, The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported on August 10.

According to his information, the “in-depth conversation“ is scheduled for August 11. Lip-Bu Tan hopes to talk about “his personal and professional journey“ and secure Trump's support. The CEO of the technology company may offer the White House chief of staff options for cooperation between the government and Intel.

On August 7, Trump called for the resignation of Lip-Bu Tan, stating, without giving details, that he was “in a state of serious conflict of interest“. According to US media, Trump's call came after Republican Senator Tom Cotton, who chairs the Senate Intelligence Committee, expressed concerns about the security of the company's operations and Lip-Bu Tan's alleged ties to China in a letter to Intel's management.

Lip-Bu Tan has previously invested in Chinese companies through his American fund, and before joining Intel, he led the California company Cadence Design System, which in late July pleaded guilty to violating export controls in supplying equipment and software for semiconductor development to a Chinese military university.

In response to the criticism, Intel's CEO said he fully shares Trump's commitment to ensuring the national interests and economic security of the United States. He also noted that "a lot of misinformation" has spread around his professional career.
