India is puzzled by the logic of the US, which accuses New Delhi of buying oil from Russia, as Washington had previously insisted on it to maintain stability in global markets. This was stated by Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar at a joint press conference with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
“We are a country that the Americans have been saying for the last few years that we should do everything possible to stabilize global energy markets, including buying oil from Russia“, he said, emphasizing that India is not the largest buyer of Russian oil or liquefied natural gas, unlike China or Europe.
“We are also buying oil from the US and the volumes are increasing“, Jaishankar added. “Therefore, frankly, we are very puzzled by the logic of the US arguments“, the minister concluded.
