The administration of US President Donald Trump is actively discussing the acquisition of shares in private US companies involved in the US defense industry.

„There is a huge discussion about the defense sector. Lockheed Martin gets 97% of its revenue from the US government, practically being part of the US government. They make incredible munitions, things that can shoot down a missile coming at you. I will leave that topic to the Secretary of Defense and his deputy. That is their area and they are thinking about it". This was stated by the Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick.

Earlier, the head of the National Economic Council at the White House, Kevin Hassett, confirmed that the US government can and will acquire shares in private companies, following the example of the recent deal with the technology corporation Intel.

On August 23, Trump announced that the US owns a 10 percent stake in Intel. He noted that he had agreed on this with the head of the company, Lip-Bu Tang (Chinese name - Chen Liu).
