The Mayor of the Sofia District "Lyulin" has formed a Crisis Headquarters in connection with waste collection

The reason for the decision is the fact that the commitment of the previous contractor "ZAUBA" EAD expires on October 4, and at the moment the Sofia Municipality has not concluded a contract for the continuation of the service

The Mayor of the "Lyulin" District; Georgi Todorov has formed a Crisis Headquarters in connection with waste collection The Mayor of the "Lyulin" District; Georgi Todorov announced today that he has urgently formed a Crisis Headquarters in connection with the situation that has arisen with waste collection.

The reason for the decision is the fact that the commitment of the previous contractor "ZAUBA" EAD expires on October 4 EAD, and at the moment Sofia Municipality has not concluded a contract for the continuation of the service.

„I have never been indifferent to the problems of the region, so today I cannot help but take action to find a solution to the latest risk we are facing. Tomorrow is the last day that „ZAUBA“ will carry out waste collection, and it is still unclear who and under what conditions will take over this activity“, said Georgi Todorov.

At his insistence, a meeting was held with the Deputy Mayor for Ecology of Sofia Municipality, at which it became clear that the temporary collection will be taken over by the Sofia Waste Treatment Enterprise.

„As of now, I have been presented with a general action plan, but without specific estimates for equipment, schedule and personnel. This greatly concerns me and, driven by my obligation to protect the lives, health and interests of the residents of Lyulin, today I have urgently formed a Crisis Headquarters“, he added.

The headquarters will have the task of monitoring regular waste collection in the field together with the Sofia Inspectorate, seeking support from organizations and volunteers who can assist with equipment and people, as well as preparing information materials for the residents of the area.

The team will maintain constant contact with the Sofia Municipality and will systematize the incoming information, while in parallel a map for priority waste collection will be prepared and measures for a lasting and sustainable solution to the problem will be proposed, which will be presented to the mayor of the Sofia Municipality, Vasil Terziev.

“I expect in-depth and intensive communication between the “Lyulin“ and Sofia Municipality, between me as mayor and Mr. Terziev, as well as with the relevant deputy mayors, the head of the Sofia Inspectorate and the director of the Sofia Waste Treatment Enterprise. Full mobilization and responsible behavior are needed, which are already present on the part of the regional administration and me. I am committed to informing the public immediately with any new information that appears,“ emphasized Georgi Todorov.
