One of the largest car morgues in Sliven caught fire

The fire has been localized

The fire in one of the largest car morgues in Sliven - on Samuilovsko Shosse - has been localized, BNR reported.

Teams from Yambol, Nova Zagora and Tvarditsa have arrived to help the Sliven firefighters. No one was injured or gassed.

The fire continues inside the building, and in the yard, where there are dismantled cars, the fire has been extinguished. Explosions can be heard inside the building, probably from gas systems, car tanks, air systems and other explosive materials. The acting head of the Sliven fire department, Chief Inspector Rosen Georgiev, said:

"The entire warehouse is on fire, we have limited the fire so that it does not spread to other cars and racks with parts on the territory of the entire car morgue and neighboring buildings. The fire is currently limited, localized. We are carrying water because there is only one hydrant around the building and it cannot supply water to our seven vehicles - from Sliven, Nova Zagora, Tvarditsa and Yambol. There are no injuries. There was a danger to the teams, but we have taken measures to keep them at a safe distance, because at times there were explosions from some of the airbags of the vehicles. The wind is from east to west, there is no danger to people, a separate vehicle came to measure the air of our colleagues from Yambol - a chemical vehicle, and they will determine if there is pollution, but at this stage there is none."

There is no pollution of the atmospheric air in Sliven, after the fire in the car morgue in the industrial zone of the city, the Executive Agency for the Environment later announced. The data is from the automatic measuring station for controlling the quality of the atmospheric air. A mobile automatic measuring station is expected to be installed in the area of the fire.

The causes of the fire are still unclear. The extinguishing continues. The road to the village of Samuilovo is closed, traffic is being diverted via a bypass route on the Sliven-Yambol road through the village of Gergevets and back.
