The car in which three students aged 17 and 18 died was flying at an extremely high speed on the Sozopol - Chernomorets road. The tragedy took place on Friday evening after 11 pm about 1 km from Sozopol in the direction of Burgas.

The technical expertise is yet to establish exactly how many kilometers per hour the car was moving.

After hitting the tree, the Audi engine flew about 70 meters from the scene of the accident, where it was found by those who conducted the inspection.

The engine weighs at least 200 kilograms and was completely thrown out of the passenger compartment, reports "Flagman".

The car, crushed beyond recognition, is located in a police parking lot. It is assumed that the car rolled across the roadway, as the impact with the tree apparently affected the ceiling.

The most horrific damage is to the front left part of the Audi, which explains why the driver - 18-year-old Yordan Nikolov from the Sozopol village of Zidarovo, who had less than 24 hours of driving experience - died on the spot.

Behind him, in the back seat, his 17-year-old classmate from Germany was also found dead. The only one who survived the collision, but later died on the way to the hospital, was the young man riding in the front right seat.

The tree was literally uprooted in the collision, and firefighters had to cut through the metal sheets to remove the bodies of the deceased.

The three deceased were best friends since childhood, neighbors of Yordan from the village of Zidarovo told the Burgas media. They studied at the Sofia University "St. St. Cyril and Methodius" in Sozopol, and were exemplary students.

"They were exemplary students - both with their behavior and with their high grades. They were always attentive and studious. All the teachers liked them very much and were proud of them", said an employee of the educational institution.

The driver of the car, Yordan, had dreamed of having a license and his own car for years. He couldn't wait to turn 18 to enroll in a course and become a driver. He received his driver's license only on October 16 - the day before the tragedy. His dream turned into his coffin, his relatives are suffering.

The spokesperson for the regional directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Burgas, Tsvetelina Randeva, made her appeal for more reason on the part of young drivers.

"Two of the boys are 17 years old, and the driver is 18, and ironically, he got his driver's license hours before the fatal accident. The car is an Audi, it was probably driving at an inappropriate speed, but on a dry road surface, and here perhaps the lack of experience had a fatal impact," she told BNT.

"This accident once again raises a huge question - how prepared are the drivers to get behind the wheel and be participants in road traffic in a way that is safe for both themselves and the other participants," Randeva.

Due to the tragedy, the Municipality of Sozopol declared a Day of Mourning in memory of the deceased young people. Mayor Tihomir Yanakiev ordered on Monday, October 20, that the flags of all administrative buildings will be lowered, and public events organized by the Municipality will be canceled.
