These days, another edition was added to the postage stamps dedicated to notable personalities - 225 years since the birth of Kolyu Ficheto.
The stamp was validated in Dryanovo, the birthplace of the Revival master, where the national celebrations for the anniversary of the famous builder and architect were launched at the beginning of the year, writes BNR.
On December 5, the last event of the program, which united about 20 initiatives during the year and brought together relatives of Kolyu Ficheto for an emotional meeting.
With a series of initiatives in Dryanovo, in other cities of the country, and even abroad, the 225th anniversary of the birth of Kolyu Ficheto was marked.
The national celebrations under the title “The (Un)Known Kolyu Ficheto“ are coming to an end. The latest event in Dryanovo, the birthplace of the First Master, given the title of Master by his contemporaries, gave way to a new postage stamp.
The author of the project is Assoc. Prof. Stoyan Dechev, who expressed hope that this small stamp will be one of the recognitions of the greatness of the Bulgarian Renaissance builder and architect.
The new philatelic edition is printed on white paper, its dimensions are 5 by 2.5 cm. and it has a circulation of 5,500 pieces. The stamp depicts the profile of Kolyu Ficheto and construction tools, and one of the church buildings of the master, who erected bridges, churches, houses, bell towers and fountains emblematic of the Bulgarian Renaissance in the Bulgarian lands and in the Danube regions of Romania, is also graphically presented.
The construction ranks him among the founders of Bulgarian national architecture. The main exhibition of the History Museum in Dryanovo - organizer of the celebrations - is dedicated to his life and work. Years of Kolyu Ficheto's active life have not been the subject of research, and only fragmentary information about the builder's achievements in Europe has reached us. Therefore, historians are counting on filling in the gaps.
