The pensions of 355,000 working pensioners will be recalculated from April 1

For the official recalculation of pensions, the data submitted by employers are taken into account, and for self-insured persons - the data on the paid insurance contributions

From April 1, 2026, the National Social Security Institute (NSI) will officially recalculate the pensions of more than 355,000 pensioners who have continued to work and be insured after retirement.

The amount of all labor pensions is subject to recalculation - for insurance length of service and age, for disability due to general illness and for disability due to work accident and occupational disease. The condition is that the pensioner has acquired insurance experience in 2025, regardless of its duration, and has not submitted an application for recalculation of his pension with insurance experience and insurance income acquired after retirement before April 1, 2026.

For the official recalculation of pensions, the data submitted by employers are taken into account, and for self-insured persons - the data on the paid insurance contributions, which refer to the period up to and including December 31 of the previous calendar year.

This measure is permanently in effect and applies every year from 2021. Last year, about 363,000 pensions were updated in the same order, with the average increase in their amount being about BGN 11, and the total budget expenditure in 2025 for the recalculated pensions was about BGN 45 million.
