„All other parties except BSP-OL are running away from the debate about politics. On the ground, my fellow citizens in Ruse want exactly this, so that there is predictability in politics and the budget. 265 municipalities in the country are waiting for the republican budget. Without it, the municipalities cannot fulfill any long-term vision for governance.“.
This was said by the leader of the BSP-OL list for Ruse, Denitsa Ivanova, on BNT. She pointed out that the Bulgarian expects to debate about income, healthcare, education, a better and fairer life and predictability of what will be done in the next year in a short horizon.
„I called on the parties in my city for such a frank debate, because politics should be conducted with conversations - who defends what policies, where we can meet with common priorities and which topics we can skip. We have been campaigning for 30 days and no one has responded.“ shared Denitsa Ivanova. She reminded that such a call for a leadership debate at the national level was also made by the chairman of the BSP Krum Zarkov. According to her, over the past 5 years, politics has turned into a show of tiktokers and influencers, which cannot be the agenda of Bulgarians.
„Unlike them, we from the BSP-OL are the bearers of normality in politics and are the only leftists on the political terrain. BSP will be represented in the next National Assembly. From what I see in places, the voter is wise and would bet on people who clearly and precisely point out the problems and fight against them“, said Ivanova. The candidate for MP stated that the BSP has embarked on a new path that was drawn 135 years ago. “We are returning to our roots, which is most important for us – solidarity, justice and a social state“.
On the topic of a possible partnership with Rumen Radev's party, Ivanova said that the important thing is not “who with whom“, but “for what“ - if the debate “for what“ is missing and what policies the parties are fighting with, the 52nd parliament will also end quickly.
She also focused on the left's attempts to introduce measures against the rise in fuel prices into the parliament's agenda and recalled that on April 1, the BSP-OL parliamentary group had called an extraordinary session of parliament with this single point, which was thwarted by the political show of the other parliamentary groups.
„In times of crisis, the people expect action precisely from the state that has abdicated“, Denitsa Ivanova stated.
On the ground in the Ruse region, the candidate for people's representative drew attention to the extremely large problem with the invasion of mosquitoes and the suspension of the public procurement by the Ministry of Health for spraying against them.
„This affects the entire Danube basin. If we don't spray with airplanes, we will find ourselves in a serious collapse. First - the mosquito invasion itself and second - for diseases. The Association of Danube Municipalities last year asked the minister to meet the deadline. If this is not done by the end of April, it becomes very dangerous. And the municipalities do not have any budgets for aerial spraying“, warned Denitsa Ivanova.
