The one who can propose a holder to the president for the positions of Prosecutor General, Chairman of the SAC and the Supreme Court of Cassation, is also competent to choose the acting Prosecutor General. This was said by constitutional law lecturer Assoc. Prof. Natalia Kiselova, NOVA reports.

This or next week, the Plenum of the Supreme Judicial Council should take office and elect a new acting president, while the National Assembly opens the procedure for electing a new composition of elected members of the Supreme Judicial Council, so that a prosecutor general and a chairman of the Supreme Administrative Court can be elected, she explained.

In her words, it is more important at the moment to elect new members of the Supreme Judicial Council, rather than to make changes to the law.

Kiselova pointed out that Borislav Sarafov “is not taking any serious actions, so he is rather formally taking up the position, not issuing acts, so that they do not have to be contested or revoked”.

Kiselova believes that a chairman of the National Assembly will be elected relatively quickly. She was categorical that the change of the Constitution should not happen at the beginning of the mandate of the National Assembly.

Kiselova added that in terms of the government, the ministers of justice, foreign affairs and interior affairs will be important.
