The prospects for Bulgaria upon the introduction of the euro are being discussed at a conference

The challenges and prospects for Bulgaria upon the introduction of the euro will be discussed at the conference "Bulgaria in the Eurozone, when?", which will take place today in Sofia, BTA reported. Organizers are the Association of Honorary Consuls in Bulgaria, the Bulgarian CFA Association and the Association of Banks in Bulgaria.

Invited to participate in the forum are the acting Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev, the acting Minister of Economy and Industry Petko Nikolov, the Governor of the BNB Dimitar Radev, politicians from the countries of the Eurozone.

The conference will take place in two panels, which will focus on the political aspects as well as the economic and financial perspectives before and after accession. Successful examples of European countries that have already introduced the euro as their national currency will be analyzed. Wolfgang Schussel, former Chancellor of Austria, Joseph Muscat, former Prime Minister of Malta, Adrian Nastase, former Prime Minister of Romania, Michalis Sarris, former Minister of Finance of Cyprus, George Zanias, former Minister of Finance of Greece, inform the organizers of the forum.

"The adoption of the euro is a key moment in the economic and financial history of Bulgaria, which requires tangible and long-term strategies for a successful transition and stability. The purpose of the event, which we are organizing together with the Association of Honorary Consuls in Bulgaria and the Association of Banks in Bulgaria, is to support the immediate and smooth introduction of the euro and the strengthening of the country's status as a reliable and integrated partner in the European and global financial markets," commented Nikolay Vassilev, President of the Bulgarian CFA Association and former Deputy Prime Minister of Bulgaria, quoted in the announcement.
