Bulgaria continues the procedure for the sale of the nuclear reactors from the "Belene" NPP. The MPs rejected the draft decision to suspend negotiations and actions on the sale of the equipment with a long production cycle owned by the “National Electric Company” EAD, intended for the "Belene" NPP project.
Introduced by “BSP for Bulgaria” draft decision was voted with 66 votes “for“, 110 – “against“ and 14 – “abstained”.
With the decision, it was proposed to cancel the negotiations assigned to the Minister of Energy with the Minister of Energy of Ukraine for the sale of equipment intended for the "Belene" NPP, according to a decision of the National Assembly of July 6, 2023, specified "Nova television".
The proposal that the negotiations and actions on the sale of the equipment with a long production cycle be suspended until a subsequent explicit decision of the National Assembly, taken after assessing the possibility of the equipment being used for the needs and purposes of the Kozloduy NPP, was also rejected.
"The Green Deal is pressing us and we very much hope that sensible solutions will be found not to accept it in this form. I am asking you to think seriously about how to develop Bulgaria's energy industry in the future," said Borislav Gutsanov, chairman of the PG of the BSP, from the parliamentary rostrum.
"In all these years, when the "Belene" NPP has been commented on, there is no legal report that says what it will cost Bulgaria to implement the project. We need to be aware of how the plant can be completed and with what partnership," pointed out Iskra Mihailova, "Vazrazhdane".
