PP-DB will submit texts between the first and second reading to the Law on Measures against Money Laundering currently being considered in parliament, with which the Magnitsky sanctions will become mandatory in our country.

This was announced in an interview for the program “Face to Face“ on bTV by Lena Borislavova, a PP-DB MP.

“I am sure that GERB and “DPS - New Beginning“ will not vote. However, they are a minority. If BSP, ITN, “Velicie“ and others support it, it will pass“, commented Borislavova.

According to her, the coalition partners in the GERB government – BSP and „Ima takvi narod“, would support the texts for the sake of their voters.

„With these changes, we want the sanctions under „Magnitsky“ not to be wishful thinking, as banks are currently applying them, because VISA and Mastercard are American companies and do not issue bank cards to such persons, but we want this to become part of Bulgarian legislation. Also, the state cannot sell state-owned properties to persons sanctioned under „Magnitsky“, and persons related to them“, explained the PP-DB MP.

The first to be sanctioned under the American „Magnitsky“ law in Bulgaria were Delyan Peevski, Vasil Bozhkov, Ilko Zhelyazkov. Then the list was supplemented with: Ivan Genov, Vladislav Goranov, Nikolay Malinov, Alexander Hristov Nikolov and Rumen Ovcharov.
