This year, two highways will be put into operation, 1,500 km of roads are being rehabilitated, said Regional Minister Ivan Ivanov, who, together with GERB leader Boyko Borisov, inspected the repair of the Dyulin Pass.

"This is a long-awaited project that must be implemented in the coming years, because it will be the connection between Asia and Europe. After the start of the war in Ukraine, the sea routes were interrupted and traffic passes through Bulgaria. You can see, after the long interruption, what condition the infrastructure is in and this is a commitment, both of the mandate holder and the party I represent. All this is in the agreement we signed. Two highways will be put into operation this year, 1,500 km of roads are being rehabilitated in the country. What was delayed, stopped, is now underway. Bulgarian citizens are expecting it to happen," Ivanov added.

Borisov revealed why the construction of the „Hemus“ highway is being delayed.

Regarding the „Hemus“ highway, the minister pointed out that work is already underway on almost all lots. It remains to issue permits for two more lots and start work in full volume, so that by the end of 2029 it can be completed in its entirety, he said.

The construction of the Dyulin Pass has been resumed, and is expected to be completed in May next year, Ivanov said. According to him, after talks between GERB leader Boyko Borisov and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the route of the „Black Sea“ highway will pass through the Dyulin Pass.
