Belgian authorities intend to allocate €965 million to build military data centers by 2029, reports Belgian newspaper L'Echo, citing a plan from the country's Ministry of Defense that it has.
It states that the facilities, whose construction is planned for the period from 2025 to 2029, will play a “decisive role in military operations“, processing data from satellites, drones and combat units in real time. In addition, according to a source from the Kingdom's Ministry of Defense, the centers will also be used for storing and securely processing information by government agencies.
According to the government's plans, data centers will be located in several protected locations throughout the country, so that if one fails, another can take over its functions. Additional funds will be allocated to protect the centers from cyberattacks.
