A Jerusalem zoo employee has died after being attacked by an escaped tiger, the BBC reported.
Uriel Nouri has died from his injuries, the Jerusalem Zoo said. Work is ongoing with Israeli police to determine how the big cat escaped into the yard where the 36-year-old worked.
The site is now closed to visitors.
Nuri was rushed to the trauma unit of Hadassah University Hospital in Ein Kerem for emergency treatment after suffering severe injuries to his upper body.
"After prolonged resuscitation attempts, the team was forced to pronounce him dead," Hadassah Medical Center said.
"The hospital staff is with his family at this difficult time and shares their grief."
