Sweden and captain Anna Hasselborg defeated Switzerland 6-5 to win the women's curling title at the Milan-Cortina 2026 Olympic Games, returning to the top after an eight-year absence. Hasselborg, 36, also led the team to the title at Pyeongchang 2018, when the Swedes defeated the Republic of Korea in the final, BTA reported.

Sweden is the most successful team in women's curling history with four titles, one silver and two bronze medals. Canada and Great Britain each have two gold medals, while Switzerland finishes in second place for the third time.

Switzerland tied the score at 5:5 in the ninth end and everything had to be decided in the tenth, in which Sweden had the advantage of the last stone. Alina Petz and her teammates placed two stones in the circles by the middle of the section, but the Swedish second captain Agnes Nohenauer made an impressive strong shot and knocked all the reds out of the scoring zone.

Later, the third captain Sarah McManus cleared two Swiss guards and the skip Hasselborg easily finished what he started, winning the final point with the last stone in Milano-Cortina 2026. Thus, Anna Hasselborg, Sarah McManus, Agnes Nohenauer and Sofia Scherbeck stepped on the Olympic peak, while Alina Petz, Silvana Tirinzoni, Carol Howald and Selina Viczonke were left with silver medals.

On Saturday, the Canadians Rachel Homan, Tracy Flury, Emma Misku and Sarah Wilkes took third place with a victory over the USA with 10:7.
