Gergana Topalova managed to reach the doubles semifinals of the clay tennis tournament in Sao Paulo (Brazil), which has a prize fund of 30 thousand dollars, BTA reports.
The Bulgarian and Anna Hertel (Poland) defeated the Argentines Lourdes Ayala and Maria Urrutia in the opening match 6:1, 6:1 in exactly one hour on the court, and in the quarterfinals they won without a game after their rivals Victoria Bosio (Argentina) and Victoria Strahova (Ukraine) withdrew.
In a dispute for a place in the final, Topalova and Hertel will play later today against Camila Bossi (Brazil) and Camila Romero (Uruguay). In singles, the Bulgarian suffered a defeat in the first round by Michaela Bayerlova (Czech Republic) 6:3, 3:6, 6:7(12) in a match that lasted 3:44 hours.
