Sebastien Ogier (France, Toyota) has taken the lead in the provisional standings of the Rally Portugal of the World Motor Sport Championship. This happened after Ot Tenak (Estonia, Hyundai) suffered a mechanical failure in the final stages of Saturday and finished the day behind second-placed Kalle Rovanperä (Finland, Toyota), BTA reports.

Tenak had been at the head of the column since Friday morning, having won three consecutive stages and gained a large lead. In the penultimate stage "Amarante 2" however, the Hyundai driver suffered a mechanical problem midway through the 22.10km and barely made it to the finish.

Ogier, who had spent most of the day just behind Tenak, suddenly found himself in the lead and led by 27.6 seconds in the standings, with Rovanperä in second place. The Estonian is a further 8.5 seconds behind and just ahead of Thierry Neuville (Belgium, Hyundai) and Takamoto Katsuta (Japan, Toyota).
