Manchester City learn new timeframe for 115 charges

Premier League chief speaks out

There is still no final decision on the financial allegations against Man City, despite the club being formally charged in February 2023.

A final decision on the case could not be made until October this year, according to a new report. Manchester City faced 115 charges of serious financial misconduct relating to the period between 2009 and 2018 - a scandal that could shake the foundations of English football.

The hearings in the case ended in early December 2024, but there has been no public information since then. According to “The Independent”, the resolution of the case could drag on until the autumn. It is possible that the decision will come during the international break, as happened with the Associated Party Transaction case in October 2024. Even if the decision is announced, the consequences will not be immediate.

The losing side will almost certainly appeal, which will extend the process by several more months. During the Premier League summer series, the league's chief executive Richard Masters was asked for an update on the case. Predictably, he declined to go into detail, citing the confidentiality of the procedure.

“You may ask, but as you know, our rules are very clear - the process is confidential and I cannot provide information on the timing or other details. "I have nothing further to add," Masters told Sky Sports.

Manchester City continue to maintain their innocence, but if proven guilty, Pep Guardiola's team could face serious sanctions. Expulsion from the Premier League, however, is not seen as a likely scenario, as such a measure would require a vote and support from the majority of clubs in the league.
