General Staff of Ukraine: AFU struck refineries in Saratov and Novokuybyshevsk

On the night of Saturday, September 20, the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck the refineries in Saratov and Novokuybyshev and the oil refinery in Samara on the territory of the aggressor country, Russia. This was announced today by the General Staff (General Staff) of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), NV reports, quoted by Focus.

The strikes on the refineries were carried out by the Armed Forces' Unmanned Systems Troops in cooperation with other components of the Defense Forces.

According to the General Staff, the enterprise in Novokuybyshev, Samara Region, processes over 8.8 million tons of oil per year. The General Staff reported explosions and a fire in the area of both refineries. The refinery is owned by "Rosneft".

Also, at night, units of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine struck an important transport infrastructure facility - the linear production and dispatching station (LDS) "Samara" in the village of Prosvet, Samara Region.

The station there mixes high- and low-sulfur oil from different fields to form the export grade of oil "Ural" (up to 50% of the total volume of Russian exports).

The Saratov refinery provides approximately 2.54% of the total volume of oil refining in the Russian Federation (over 7 million tons of oil per year).

"Explosions and a large-scale fire have been confirmed in the area of the target. The final results of the strike are being clarified“, the report says.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine added that all the attacked objects are involved in providing support to the Russian army.

The Ukrainian Defense Forces are systematically implementing measures aimed at reducing the military-economic potential of the aggressor state. In particular, this undermines the logistical capabilities of the Russian Federation in the oil refining sector and disrupts the systems for providing the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation with fuel and lubricants“, the General Staff added.
