US government shutdown at 7:00 a.m. Bulgarian time

President Donald Trump plans to sign executive orders at 11:30 p.m. Bulgarian time

US President Donald Trump plans to sign executive orders at 11:30 p.m. Bulgarian time on October 1, amid a government shutdown that could begin at 7:00 a.m. today.

The US president's schedule for the day does not make it clear what area the orders relate to.

“At 4:30 p.m. the president will sign executive orders in the Oval Office,“ the schedule says.

The US Senate concluded its session on September 30. The US government shutdown will begin at 6:59 a.m. Eastern time on October 1.

The US Senate failed to pass two funding bills on Tuesday. The White House then ordered government agencies to prepare for a government shutdown.

The new US fiscal year begins on October 1 without a budget. If at least a temporary resolution to continue funding the government in the short term is not passed, federal agencies risk being shut down indefinitely.

The longest government shutdown in US history lasted 35 days and also occurred during Donald Trump's first term. Given that both houses of Congress are controlled by the Republican Party, the risk of a government shutdown may be smaller, but it still remains.
