Nearly 50 European leaders have been invited today to a meeting in Copenhagen dedicated to the war in Ukraine and European security, DPA reported, BTA reported.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is expected to attend the seventh summit of the European Political Community (EPC), which follows yesterday's meeting of the 27 leaders of the European Union, also in the Danish capital.
The EPC was proposed by French President Emmanuel Macron after Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022 to promote dialogue and cooperation between European countries outside the EU borders and without the formality of state visits.
Among the topics that the leaders will discuss are how to strengthen Ukraine, what is the security situation in Europe and how to make the continent safer.
The talks on European security are also expected to touch on economic security, drug trafficking and migration.
Among the 47 invited guests are heads of state and government of all EU countries, as well as leaders of countries outside the bloc such as the UK, Moldova, Ukraine, Switzerland and Georgia. Russia and Belarus have not been invited to these meetings.
In addition, leaders of key European organisations such as NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte have also been invited.
The EPO leaders met for the first time in October 2022 in Prague, and their last meeting was in Tirana in May 2025.
