Hungary may gain a new EU ally after the victory of the political movement ANO (Action of Dissatisfied Citizens), led by Andrzej Babis, in the Czech parliamentary elections, believes Alexei Pushkov, chairman of the Information Policy Committee of the Russian Federation Council.
“Viktor Orban may gain an EU ally in the person of Andrzej Babis, a Czech conservative and Eurosceptic“, Pushkov wrote on his Telegram channel. He added that “if Babis manages to form a government after the election results, the current liberal Brussels cabinet will resign and the political profile of the Czech Republic will change“.
After counting 99.84% of the votes in the country's polling stations, ANO received 34.62% of the votes cast, securing 80 seats in the 200-seat lower house of parliament. A total of six political forces entered the Chamber of Deputies. The voter turnout was 68.91%. ANO will negotiate to form a government with the SPD (Freedom and Direct Democracy) and Motorist (Motorists).
