The death toll from the collapsed boarding school in the Indonesian city of Sidoarjo has reached 37, with the search for 26 more still ongoing, CNA reports.
The multi-storey religious boarding school building collapsed as students gathered for afternoon prayers on Monday. Previously, 14 deaths were reported.
“As of Sunday morning, the number of people identified was 141. Of these, 104 are safe and 37 have died,“ said Yudi Bramantio, operations director of the National Search and Rescue Agency.
He added that 26 people were still missing.
Investigators are determining the cause of the collapse, but experts say preliminary data point to poor construction.
