North Korea supports the Russian government and people in their efforts to address the root causes of the Ukrainian crisis.
This was stated by the country's leader Kim Jong-un during talks with the Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev.
„Always standing by Moscow is the unwavering choice of the government of our republic. "On the Ukrainian issue, the DPRK's position as an ally of Russia remains clear and consistent," Kim Jong-un said.
Footage of the talks held on October 10 in Pyongyang was posted on Medvedev's VKontakte page on October 11.
“In accordance with the spirit of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Treaty, we will always support the position of the Russian government and people who are striving to address the root causes of the Ukrainian crisis, as well as to protect our sovereignty, security interests and territorial integrity,“ the DPRK leader added. Kim Jong-un called Russian President Vladimir Putin his "closest friend."
In response, Medvedev said that Moscow considers Pyongyang's support for the North Korean Defense Forces to be extremely important.
During Putin's visit to Pyongyang in June 2024, Russia and North Korea signed a comprehensive strategic partnership agreement, which includes a clause on providing military assistance in the event of an armed attack by either side.
