Trump to address Israeli parliament on Monday

US president to attend summit in Egyptian resort of Sharm el-Sheikh

US President Donald Trump will address the Knesset (Israeli parliament) on October 13 and attend a ceremony in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, to mark the signing of the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip.

This is clear from the US leader's schedule published by the White House press service.

Trump will arrive in Israel on the morning of October 13. Later, he will meet with families of hostages held by the radical Palestinian movement Hamas and address the Knesset. No further details were disclosed. The office of Israeli President Isaac Herzog was the first to announce Trump's expected visit to Israel on October 9. The same day, Trump announced his readiness to address the Knesset.

The American leader will arrive in Sharm el-Sheikh at 1:45 p.m. Bulgarian time to attend the ceremony, after which he will fly to the United States. On October 10, Trump announced that he would hold meetings in Egypt with the leaders of many countries.

Earlier, the office of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi announced that leaders of more than 20 countries had been invited to a “Peace Summit“ in Sharm el-Sheikh to mark the signing of a ceasefire agreement in the Palestinian enclave. The full list of participants has not yet been released.

On October 10, the Israeli military announced that the Gaza ceasefire agreement had come into effect at 12:00 Bulgarian time and that troops had “taken up positions along the updated deployment lines“. They said this marked the beginning of a 72-hour countdown to the release of hostages held by Hamas and its allies in the Gaza Strip.
