London and Berlin: Ukraine has a place in NATO

Putin finds it increasingly difficult to present this war as a success in Russia, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius believes

British Defense Minister John Healey and German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius acknowledged that Ukraine contributes to the Alliance's common security and should have a place in NATO, FOKUS reported.

They stated this after a meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group in Ramstein, Evropeyskaya Pravda reports.

The EP asked the ministers to explain how the perception of Ukraine's role has changed after the drone attack on Poland and whether there is an emerging understanding in the Alliance that Ukraine is already contributing to common security and "should have a place in NATO".

""The short answer to the question is yes", said the British Defense Minister defense.

"Now there is a growing understanding and recognition of the importance of Ukraine, its participation in the training of NATO military personnel“, Healy noted and also acknowledged that the invasion of Poland was a turning point.

"The recent events with the invasion (of Russian drones) into European skies, when Ukraine offered its help, showed many that Ukraine is not fighting only for its future. Because Ukraine's unique combat experience is already and in the future will be Ukraine's contribution to European security“, the British minister emphasized.

"I can only agree with that“, supported his colleague, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius.

German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius announced today that Berlin is providing Ukraine with 400 million euros for the production of long-range drones. According to him, their use against targets deep inside Russia is already yielding results, Ukrinform reports, quoted by FOCUS.

Pistorius announced this during a press conference after the ''Rammstein'' meeting of NATO ministers in Brussels on Wednesday, October 15.

"Germany is providing 400 million euros for the purchase of long-range drones. This helps Ukraine strike Russian logistical facilities far behind the front line. We are already seeing some successes“, said the head of the German Defense Ministry.

According to Pistorius "Putin is finding it increasingly difficult to present this war as a success in Russia“. He noted that Berlin has provided Ukraine with support worth around 9 billion euros in 2025. The Defense Minister also assured that his country will continue its support.

"Our support will remain at this level. From this amount, we are currently preparing a package of 2 billion euros. It will include missile defense systems, the most advanced radar technologies and ammunition. Of course, we are also participating in PURL with an investment of 500 million dollars“, says Pistorius.

According to the Defense Minister, support for Ukraine's air defense will remain a priority for Germany. However, investments will also be directed towards measures to combat drones.

On October 15, a meeting of the Contact Group for the Defense of Ukraine in the Ramstein format was held at NATO headquarters in Brussels. This is the 31st meeting in Ramstein. It was convened by the United Kingdom and Germany.

Yesterday, the German Defense Minister also announced a new, massive aid package for Ukraine worth over 2 billion euros.
