The majority of German citizens report a significant deterioration in their opinion of the US since the start of President Donald Trump's second term in January, according to a survey by the German magazine “Internationale Politik“, quoted by DPA, BTA reports.

The survey, conducted by the “Forza“ institute, shows that almost two-thirds of respondents (65%) said that their attitude towards the US had worsened. Only 8% of participants indicated that their opinion had become more positive, while 25% claimed that there had been no change.

The survey also shows significant gender differences. Among women, 74% have a negative opinion of the US, compared to 56% of men. The youngest (18-29 years old) and the oldest (over 60 years old) also share similar attitudes - 70% and 71%, respectively, have a negative attitude towards the country.

The exception is the supporters of the “Alternative for Germany“, where 22% declare a worse opinion of the US, 47% remain unchanged, and 27% report a more positive attitude.

Among the voters of the ruling parties - the conservative bloc of the Christian Democratic Union and the Christian Social Union, as well as the German Social Democratic Party - the share of negative assessments is significantly higher: 76% and 80%, respectively. The most critical of the US are the supporters of the “Greens“ and “The Left“, where 91% express negative views.
