Israeli forces attacked the Gaza Strip for the third time in three days on Sunday, killing two people and further testing the fragile ceasefire, Reuters reported, citing the official Palestinian Authority news agency, BTA reported.

One Palestinian was killed by Israeli shelling and another was shot by Israeli forces, the WAFA news agency said.

The Israeli military did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the report, Reuters noted.

A third Palestinian died from injuries sustained in an earlier Israeli shelling, the Palestinian news agency added. agency.

The US-brokered ceasefire, which has left unresolved thorny issues such as the disarmament of “Hamas“ and the timetable for Israel's withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, has been tested by periodic outbreaks of violence since it took effect three weeks ago.

Between Tuesday and Wednesday, Israel carried out strikes in Gaza in response to the death of an Israeli soldier, which health authorities in the enclave said killed 104 people.

Israel said on Wednesday it remained committed to the ceasefire despite the strikes.
