G7 countries called for an immediate ceasefire in Ukraine and negotiations VIDEO

Discussion continues on the possibility of using frozen Russian assets in support of Kiev

The G7 countries continue to discuss the possibility of using frozen Russian assets in support of Ukraine.

This was stated in a joint statement by G7 foreign ministers after the meeting in Ontario, Canada, which is hosting the event.

A document distributed by the press service of the Canadian Ministry of Foreign Affairs states that the G7 countries “are discussing a number of financial options, including the further coordinated use of frozen Russian assets in their jurisdictions in support of Ukraine“. The document also notes that the G7 countries intend to increase pressure on Moscow and “are exploring measures“ against countries that are allegedly “helping Russia finance“ the war in Ukraine.

On October 23, participants in the EU summit in Brussels failed to reach an agreement on the use of Russian assets.

The G7 countries announced in a joint statement the need for an immediate ceasefire in Ukraine and the holding of negotiations.

“We emphasize the need for an immediate ceasefire. We agree that the current line of contact should be the starting point for negotiations,“ the document says.

The G7 countries believe that Iran should start direct negotiations with the United States on its nuclear program. This position was outlined in a joint statement by G7 foreign ministers after their meeting in Ontario, Canada.

"Iran must fully restore cooperation with the IAEA, which includes resuming inspections of its nuclear facilities. We call on Iran to enter into direct negotiations with the United States, supported by the EU-3 (Great Britain, France and Germany)“, the document said.
