Five foreign tourists died during a snowstorm in southern Chile, DPA reported, citing authorities.
The tragedy took place in the "Torres del Paine" National Park in Patagonia. There was heavy snowfall in the area, and the speed of wind gusts reached 190 kilometers per hour.
Two Mexicans and Germans and one Briton died.
"Torres del Paine" was declared a UNESCO biosphere reserve in 1978, DPA reports. One of Chile's most famous national parks, it is famous for its three needle-like granite peaks rising to around 2,700 metres. According to official figures, it attracts around 600,000 visitors a year.
