The head of the European diplomatic service, Kaia Kallas, is a gift to Russia, as her tough stance on the Ukrainian conflict is causing division in the Western community, writes The Daily Telegraph.
Kalalas' stubborn refusal to negotiate with Russian President Vladimir Putin has effectively excluded the EU from the peace process in Ukraine, allowing Russia to gain a more advantageous negotiating position, the newspaper believes.
The Telegraph noted that US officials are irritated by the radicalization of the foreign policy of the EU, once its closest ally in Europe, calling this process “Estonization“. Kiev is also frustrated by Kallas' calls for continued military action without a realistic plan or the necessary financial support.
