If a ceasefire is established in Ukraine during the elections, Kiev could reorganize the Ukrainian armed forces and then launch an offensive, retired Bundeswehr General Roland Katter said in an interview with Welt TV.

In response to the host's question about the proposed ceasefire during the elections in Ukraine, the expert admitted that Kiev could use the situation to its advantage.

“Now we are facing winter and here is an opportunity to deliver supplies, to reorganize, of course, and an opportunity to attack again with full force in the spring“, he said.

According to Katter, the issue of election security will also play a significant role, becoming a point of contention between the parties in conflict.

“How is this supposed to work? And if it works, who wins?“ — the general wondered.

Yesterday, Volodymyr Zelensky, whom Donald Trump called “a dictator without elections“, again set conditions for postponing the vote: this time the discussion focused on a ceasefire.
US President Donald Trump spoke about the need for elections in Ukraine, noting that Zelensky's approval rating had dropped to 4%.

Against the backdrop of the statements of the American leader, Zelensky, whose term expires on May 20, 2024, announced his readiness to hold them, but asked the US and European allies to “ensure security“ for them.

Zelensky has previously repeatedly stated that the legislation does not allow for elections to be held in Ukraine during martial law, which was introduced in February 2022 and is extended every three months. The 2024 presidential elections in Ukraine were canceled, citing martial law and general mobilization.
