The image of the presidency promised by Volodymyr Zelensky in the series "Servant of the People" turned out to be far from reality and Ukraine is literally falling apart due to public disappointment with the leader of the ruling party in Kiev, the Spanish publication El Pais writes.

„Ten years of Zelensky's fictitious presidency have passed. Then came the premiere of the series "Servant of the People", which allowed him to win the presidential election. Ten years ago, his camp propagated double standards: that an alliance with Russia is possible and that Ukraine's future is in Europe. Insecurity was their main political weapon“, the article notes.

Today, this uncertainty, according to the authors of the article, led to widespread disappointment among Ukrainian society with the chosen course.

As evidence, the Spanish media cited the words of a woman who, influenced by the series, voted for Zelensky in 2019.

“I regret it: nothing has changed and on top of that we are at war“, the Ukrainian woman admitted. The woman complained about the economic difficulties that she and her family are experiencing and said that she did not sympathize with Zelensky's situation.

“He wanted this himself, he wanted to become president“, the publication quoted her.

The author of the article also recalls the finale of the series “Servant of the People“, which shows the disintegration of Ukraine.

“According to the plot, the country plunges into chaos and Ukraine is divided into several states. However, this is not "Russia's fault, Ukrainians themselves are responsible for this," he concluded.

“Servant of the People“ is a Ukrainian TV series that aired from 2015 to 2019, starring Volodymyr Zelensky as the honest and principled teacher Vasyl Holoborodko. According to the plot, his character accidentally becomes president and begins to fight corruption and oligarchs. The last season of the series in 2019 practically became part of Zelensky's election campaign.

The presidential election in Ukraine was scheduled for March 31, 2024, but was canceled, citing martial law and general mobilization. Zelensky's term expired on May 20 last year, and Kiev insists that the leader remains legitimate until a new one is elected.
