Ukraine is responding to the caution of some of its European allies with a demonstration of fighting spirit and strikes away from the front, writes the British “Independent“, which calls for the pressure on Russian President Vladimir Putin to increase to the point where the war becomes unprofitable for Moscow. Against this background, “The Guardian“ and “Politico“ are reporting that the talks in Miami (Florida), advertised by the American envoy Steve Witkoff as “productive“, have so far not led to a clear breakthrough towards a ceasefire, BTA writes in its review of the Western press.

Ukraine has demonstrated fighting spirit and its allies must react, writes an editorial in "The Independent".

Russian President Vladimir Putin must be brought to a state in which he is no longer interested in continuing the war, the British publication calls.

Ukraine responded to the caution of its European allies with a demonstration of fighting spirit. After the European powers signed a 90 billion euro loan for Kiev, which, "The Independent" comments, is enough to deter Putin's forces, but not to push them out. Ukraine has hit an oil tanker off the coast of Libya, which is believed to be part of Russia's shadowy fleet. Ukrainian drones also hit a Russian patrol ship and an oil rig in the Caspian Sea.

Ukraine's increased military operations at long range are a worthy response to both the hesitation of its allies and Putin's four-hour monologue on Friday, writes "Independent", bearing in mind the Russian leader's big press conference to review the past year.

It is also the right accompaniment to peace talks between Russian and American representatives in Florida.

Putin does not stop attacking kindergartens and apartment buildings while the talks are going on, so the Ukrainians have no reason not to attack more legitimate targets, writes "Independent".

There are rumors that there are high hopes for progress that will lead to a ceasefire, but "Independent" has always been of the opinion that Putin has no real interest in peace and that we will only believe him when he finally agrees to realistic guarantees for Ukraine's post-war security, the British publication notes.

V. "The Guardian" draws attention to the statement of the American special envoy Steve Witkoff that the talks with Ukrainian and European representatives in Florida were productive and constructive.

Witkoff said on social networks that the talks were aimed at coordinating the strategic approach of Ukraine, the United States and Europe.

The talks are part of the ongoing months-long efforts of the administration of US President Donald Trump to achieve peace in Ukraine, the "The Guardian" notes. The American leader has engaged in extensive diplomacy on the issue, but his efforts have been met with conflicting demands from Moscow and Kiev.

No breakthrough in Ukraine talks in Miami, writes "Politico".

Steve Witkoff said that talks in Miami with Russian envoy Kirill Dmitriev and Ukrainian national security adviser Rustem Umerov were productive and constructive, but the discussions did not lead to clear progress towards ending the war, the publication notes.
