The authorities in Venezuela have released over 60 prisoners arrested during protests against the re-election of President Nicolas Maduro in 2024, non-governmental organizations report.
At that time, about 2,400 people were detained during demonstrations against Maduro's announced victory for a third term, but nearly 2,000 of them were later released.
According to relatives of those released now, they were being held in the high-security prison "Tocoron" in the state of Aragua, about 130 kilometers from the capital Caracas. "Agence France-Presse", however, points out that the exact conditions of their release are currently unclear.
