Denmark was partially paralyzed today due to heavy snowfall in much of the country, with public transport disrupted, schools closed and flights canceled, Agence France-Presse reported, BTA reported.

The Danish Meteorological Institute (DMI) issued a warning of snowfall that will continue until tonight in the eastern part of the country, where the capital Copenhagen is located, as well as in the eastern part of the Jutland peninsula, where the second largest city - Aarhus - is located.

Bus traffic has been stopped in Aarhus. Copenhagen regional police warned against "non-essential travel". Many schools chose to remain closed today ahead of the holidays.

According to the DMI, temperatures in some places could drop to 30 cm of snow. Copenhagen Airport warned of “risk of delays and cancellations (of flights) due to snowy conditions“. Flights to Berlin and Paris were cancelled this morning. DMI has also issued a snowstorm warning for the North Jutland region.
