It took security forces several hours to identify the person who shot General Vladimir Alekseev in Moscow, law enforcement officials told TASS.
„The identity of the perpetrator and his accomplices was established during a complex operational search within a few hours. "It was then established that the perpetrator flew to the UAE, after which interaction with partners began," law enforcement officials reported.
They did not provide additional details.
Earlier, the FSB reported that with the assistance of partners from the UAE, Russian citizen Lyubomir Korba, born in 1960, who was the direct perpetrator of the crime, was detained in Dubai and extradited to Russia.
Accomplices in the assassination attempt have also been identified - Russian citizens Viktor Vasin, who is detained in Moscow, and Zinaida Serebritskaya, who left for Ukraine.
The assassination attempt on Alekseev was carried out on February 6 in an apartment building on Volokolamskoye Shosse in northwestern Moscow. The attacker shot him several times. The Russian Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case for attempted murder and illegal trafficking in firearms.
On the evening of February 7, Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke by phone with United Arab Emirates President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
The Russian President thanked his counterpart for the effective cooperation through intelligence services and for the assistance of the Emirati side in detaining a suspect in the terrorist attack on Lieutenant General Vladimir Alekseev.
The victim is now conscious, and his life is no longer in danger.
