The EU must first decide what it expects from Russian President Vladimir Putin before talking to him. This was stated by the EU's top diplomat Kaia Kallas, reported Agence France-Presse, quoted by BTA.
Kallas gave an interview to several media outlets today, including Agence France-Presse and Reuters.
"Let's discuss what we want to talk to the Russians about before deciding who will be the person who will talk to them," said Kallas, quoted by Agence France-Presse.
She also said that she would propose a list of concessions that the EU should ask Russia for as part of finding a solution to the war in Ukraine, reported Reuters.
"Everyone at the negotiating table, including the Russians and the Americans, must understand that the Europeans also need to agree to the peace deal," said Kallas. "And that is why we also have conditions. "And we should impose these conditions not on the Ukrainians, who were already under great pressure, but on the Russians," said Kallas.
