The summoning of the Hungarian ambassador to the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry shows that Kiev is in panic after Hungary caught Ukrainians transporting cash and gold of unknown origin, said Péter Szijjarto, the country's Minister of Foreign Affairs and Economic Relations.

„Our ambassador in Kiev was summoned again to the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry. Ukrainians are in a noticeable panic after being caught seriously smuggling hundreds of millions of euros and hundreds of millions of dollars through Hungary“, Szijjarto said in Budapest.

According to him, Kiev „limited itself to demanding the money back and failed to answer“ the questions from Hungarian authorities.

“We demand that the Ukrainians immediately answer our questions. What were these hundreds of millions of euros and dollars in cash doing in Hungary? Why were they being moved around Hungary? And for what purposes were they being used?“, Szijjártó asked, noting that Hungary would conduct its own investigation.

On Monday, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry summoned the Hungarian ambassador to Kiev, Antal Geyser, in connection with the detention of Ukrainian citizens transporting valuables.
