Russian forces attacked port infrastructure in the Ukrainian Odessa region with drones last night, the head of the Odessa regional military administration Oleg Kiper announced on his channel in the "Telegram" application, BTA reported.
As a result of the attack, damage was caused to a port food warehouse, Kiper informed. A fire broke out at the site of the strike, which was extinguished promptly by emergency teams.
"Fortunately, there were no deaths or injuries. All relevant services are eliminating the consequences of the attack," the regional governor said.
The Bulgarians in Odessa region number over 150,000 people and are the third largest according to the latest official census in Ukraine. The city of Odessa itself is home to 50-60 thousand Bulgarians.
The Russian air defense has shot down 176 Ukrainian drones last night, TASS reported, citing the Russian Defense Ministry's duty report, BTA reported.
"From 11:00 p.m. on March 12 to 7:00 a.m. on March 13 (from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Bulgarian time - editor's note) 176 Ukrainian aircraft-type unmanned aerial vehicles were intercepted and destroyed by the air defense's duty assets," the ministry's statement said.
The largest number of drones - 80 - were neutralized over the Crimean peninsula, which was occupied in 2014. 29 drones shot down over the Russian republic of Adygea in the North Caucasus.
