Romanian Defense Minister Radu Miruca announced today that radars detected 21 Russian drones heading towards Romania overnight, but none of them entered the country's airspace, the Ziare website reported, quoted by BTA.

A number of areas in southern Ukraine were targeted by a wave of drone attacks by Russia overnight, which has caused concern among Romanian authorities, the publication notes.

Earlier today, the Defense Ministry announced that drone parts were found in the area of the village of Plauru, Tulcea County, following a new series of attacks last night against civilian and infrastructure targets in Ukraine near the river border with Romania. The ministry specified that two F-16 fighter jets of the Romanian Air Force were scrambled, and the population in the area received a warning through the RO-Alert system.

"The situation in Plauru last night did not involve entering Romanian airspace. During the night, 21 drones were coming towards Romania, but they did not enter Romania. It sometimes happens that they enter a very narrow strip. We cannot always detect such situations with radar. It depends on the terrain, it also depends on the area in which a drone can be responded to, because you cannot shoot down a drone if it implies an explosion over two or three houses. The Romanian army is analyzing all these scenarios," the defense minister explained.

The Russian armed forces carried out a drone attack on port and energy infrastructure in the Izmail district, Odessa region, southern Ukraine, overnight, resulting in the destruction of energy, industrial and port infrastructure facilities, local authorities reported.
