Iran has fired more than 400 ballistic missiles at Israel since the start of the Israeli-American military operation against the Islamic Republic, 92% of which have been intercepted, said Israel Defense Forces (IDF) spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Nadav Shoshani, quoted by Agence France-Presse, BTA reported.

"Since February 28, Iran has fired more than 400 ballistic missiles at Israel. We have achieved excellent results in intercepting them, with approximately 92% of the rockets launched being intercepted, with four direct hits on targets in Israel," Shoshani stressed.

"The ballistic missiles we saw yesterday are no different from those we have already intercepted before and will continue to intercept in the future," the IDF spokesman added.

Two Iranian missiles hit the cities of Dimona and Arad in southern Israel last night, injuring hundreds of people and causing heavy material damage.

The two missiles could not be intercepted and hit the two cities directly, causing significant damage in residential areas. Dimona is home to a strategic nuclear research center about five kilometers from the site of the direct hit.

The strikes on the Israeli city of Dimona were in response to the attack on the Iranian nuclear facility in Natanz, Iranian state television announced.

According to Israeli journalists specializing in military affairs, "the failure to intercept the two Iranian ballistic missiles that hit Dimona and Arad is due to different circumstances that are not interconnected".

"The two unsuccessful attempts to intercept the missiles, which hit the same area two hours apart, are simply a coincidence," the Israeli newspaper "Times of Israel" reported, citing an Israeli Air Force briefing.
